With the Social Observatory we are trying to determine the existing relation between the transnational companies, their megaprojects and the crisis of Human rights in Colombia
Our activity is centered to the transnational companies and its megaprojects, because the war and the violation of the human rights in Colombia have a direct relation with the implementation of the neoliberal model and the interests of these transnational companies as opposed to the natural resources and the privatization of the profitable companies of the State.
Some organizations of workers, farmers, blacks and natives have risen against the construction of megaprojects of exploration and/or operation in our regions of extractive mining industries or of hydrocarbons, railway and highway networks, among others, because these, far from allowing the affected towns to accede to the socialeconomic development, usually put them under a greater poverty and to the consequent violation of its economic, social, cultural, environmental, political rights and their right to an independent development.
