El día 12 de Diciembre de 2003, usted fue informado por directivos sindicales de SINALTRAINAL seccional Barrancabermeja, de que a las 8:50 de la noche, dos sujetos a bordo de una Moto C-90, dispararon 4 veces al frente de la planta, tenemos versiones encontradas de que los disparos fueron lechos hacia el interior de la planta y otra de que fueron al aire.
En análisis hecho por nosotros y otras organizaciones defensoras de
derechos humanos, concluimos que se trato de un
hostigamiento hacia los trabajadores que en ese momento se encontraban laborando,
y de manera particular contra JUAN CARLOS GALVIS, quien es el trabajador de
mayor riesgo que estaba en el momento.
Nos preocupa enormemente que la vigilancia de la planta no reacciono ante los hechos, se limitaron simplemente a ser espectadores del mismo, Por lo anterior la organización sindical le exige a usted como representante de la empresa, denuncie los hechos presentados el día 12 de Diciembre ante la autoridad competente y una vez lo tenga en sus manos nos haga llegar copia del mismo, que se nos informe como sindicato, que medidas van a tomar en materia de seguridad en la planta para prevenir situaciones como la anteriormente señalada, o aun más lamentables, toda vez que hay compañeros que estamos amenazados de muerte, tenemos escoltas y laboramos para la empresa, e igualmente ante el conflicto que ustedes generaron con la solicitud de despido de trabajadores ante el ministerio, que aumenta nuestro riesgo, por que el actor armado que domina la ciudad no permite que se hagan denuncias de ningún tipo.
Igualmente lo responsabilizamos a usted y a la empresa Coca-Cola de cualquier hecho que ponga en peligro la vida e integridad física de quienes laboramos para esta empresa, dentro o fuera de la fábrica o al momento del ingreso o salida de los trabajadores, ya que reiteradamente le hemos dado a conocer hechos que nos preocupan en materia de seguridad y la empresa no ha hecho nada para proteger la vida de los obreros.

Dear Sir:
On 12 December 2003, you were informed by leaders of the SINALTRAINAL branch in Barrancabermeja that at 8:50 in the evening two persons riding a C-90 motorbike shot 4 times in front of the plant. We have statements that some shots were towards the plant's interior, and some were in the air.
In the analysis made by ourselves and other human rights organisations, we
conclude that this was an act of harrassment of the
workers, and in particular of JUAN CARLOS GALVIS, who is the person at highest
risk in the plant at that time.
We are extremely concerned that the plant guards did not react to the incident,
they limited themselves to being spectators. For
that reason the trade union demands that you as representative of the corporation:
denounce the events of 12 December to the competent authorities and that you
at once provide us with a copy; that you inform us as a union what security
measures will be taken to prevent a repetition of the above incident; that whenever
one of our comrades working for the corporation is confronting death threats
they should have bodyguards. This occurs in the face of the conflict that you
have generated by seeking to sack workers, thereby increasing the risk against
us because the armed actors that dominate the city do not allow us to make any
form of denouncement.
At the same time we make you and the Coc-Cola corporation responsible for whatever
act that endangers the lives and physical
well-being of us who are working for the corporation, whether that be inside
or outside the plant or when the workers are arriving or security matters that
worry us, but the corpoartion has not done anything to protect the lives of
its employees.
